It was dubbed the greatest contest since the golden days of Arkle and Millhouse. Millions of people throughout the world waited in
anticipation for the most talked about horse race in many years. Next door stable mates from the Paul Nicholls team, Denman and Kauto Star were primed to take on each other in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. As the race unfolded two of the finest chasers in the world gave everything they had. Ultimately, Denman using his amazing speed and jumping ability, proved to be the better horse on the day.

In an amazing training feat, Paul Nicholls and his team were responsible for the first three horses home in the Gold Cup, reinforcing the widely accepted opinion that he is one of the finest National Hunt trainers in history.
